The Floorlords were established in Boston in 1981 and are still active 45 years later. I am proud to be a founding member and to have watched the crew survive every era by passing the culture forward.
When we started, Hip Hop was still being invented in real time. There was no roadmap. You learned from the people around you, battled, traveled, built community and earned your place.
Why longevity matters
Forty-five years is not an accident. It comes from showing up, teaching the next generation and making sure the name means something beyond one moment or one member.
Over the years, the Floorlords have performed, competed, taught, produced events and represented Boston around the world. The crew has lived through major changes in breaking without losing the foundation.
Culture is something you pass down
The part I value most is not a single battle or stage. It is seeing younger dancers learn where the movement came from and then take it somewhere new.
That is the same mindset I bring into DJing and event work. I care about the history, but I also care about what the room needs right now.
